Boo Bags
Looking for a spooktacular way to connect with your neighbors without the ghastly small talk? Boo them!
Leave a basket of Halloween goodies on their doorstep and hightail it out of there! Boo-nus points if you leave your name and follow up after or simply reveal yourself while trick-or-treating with a nonchalant, “We hope you liked your Boo! Reese’s pumpkins are our favorite Halloween candy.”
Maybe you’ll become best witches forever or probably you’ve just broken the ice. Either seems like a win in my spell book.
So, what exactly is a Boo? It’s just a bag of Halloween treats and knick-knacks (which might be considered tricks in some houses, proceed carefully here). Often times, the bag comes with a sign to hang in the recipient’s window to ward off potential boo-ers: move along, this house has already been booed. Next, the booed becomes the booer and may refill the bag with new treats to leave for another neighbor or friend.
Your boo can be as elaborate or as simple as you’d like. Here are some of my tricks for keeping this treat sweet:
👻Make several copies of the door signs and put them in the instruction bag. This way the boo doesn’t get stuck and forgotten about while someone waits to make a copy for their door.
👻Consider non-food items like stickers, stamps, and spider rings in case your neighbors have an allergy you don’t know about. Check out the #tealpumpkin for more info and ideas
👻Start two bags instead of one to double the fun
👻Boos aren’t just for kids! Fill your goody bags with a candle, mug, Halloween socks, a favorite can of soda, or the good candy for neighbors who are kids at heart.
👻Don’t reinvent the wheel! Grab my signs for free right here. I used mycutegraphics.com for the cutie little ghost.
